SUMMARY:An evening with Elliott Newton from Citizen Zoo All you want to know about urban “rewilding”
DESCRIPTION:An evening with Elliot Newton from Citizen Zoo\nAll you want to know about urban “rewilding”\nHave you ever wondered what “rewilding” really means?  And how it could change a city as large as London?  Or\, how biodiverse our streets\, parks\, nature reserves and waterways could become if we challenge current anti-rewilding assumptions? \nJoin us for an evening with Elliot Newton\, co-founder and Director of Rewilding at Citizen Zoo\, as he shares how rewilding is already taking root across the capital. Elliot will take you behind the scenes of pioneering projects including the latest developments on the Ealing Beaver Project\, the Get InVOLEd water vole reintroduction on the Hogsmill River\, Rewilding Tolworth Farm\, and Citizen Zoo’s work to help make London a white stork-friendly city. He’ll also explore how the rewilding revolution could transform how we see\, value and shape the urban landscape. \nEach rewilding project puts community at its core.  They empower local people to play a direct role in bringing wildlife back and shape a greener\, wilder London. You’ll hear how we can all get involved with such projects\, from volunteering and citizen science to supporting local habitat restoration and community action.  Come along and hear how we can rewild London – including Chiswick\, together! \n£5.00 per adult\, children 12 yrs. and under are free of charge (payable at the door) \nChildren must be accompanied by an adult. \nTea/coffee/biscuits on arrival \nRaffle

SUMMARY:Thought you knew everything about whiskers?
DESCRIPTION:Thought you knew everything about whiskers? \nWhiskers are crucial for many mammal species.  They are used for navigation and finding food.  Each species has whiskers that have adapted over time to serve a purpose vital for their survival.  Not all whiskers are found on the face… \nDr Robyn Grant has been researching whiskers and their importance for many years.  We are honoured that she will be travelling down for Manchester Metropolitan University to talk to us in Chiswick about her work.  You may be surprised to learn that humans show signs of having whiskers in their past history! \ncome along to another interesting and fact-filled evening with us that will change your whole perspective of whiskers on mammals. \nTea/coffee/biscuits \nRaffle \nPay on Arrival – £5 per adult \nFREE – for 12yr olds and under.  children must be accompanied by an adult

SUMMARY:The power of data for Nature
DESCRIPTION:The Power of Data for Nature\nRecording species is very important and often overlooked as a good way to help local wildlife.  It can be a fun and relaxing way to take part in citizen science. \nVictoria Kleanhous from Greenspace information for Greater London (GiGL) will join us on evening of 18th June at Deny’s Hall\, Church Street at 6.30pm to explain the work they do at GiGL and how we can all help record species across Chiswick\, and other areas\, to help build a green database of local flora and fauna. \nVicky will show how successful the GiGL database can be!  A good example is it’s use to help save the green space – Warren Farm. \nAfter the talk we will spend time recording species in the Church Cemetery so everyone can either try iNaturalist app or the wildchiswick.com/naturesurvey form. \nNOTE:  Places for this event are limited.  Best to register early! \nThis talk ties in with the WildChiswick Nature Survey Competition that runs from 31st May until 31st October.  Click here to learn more
