Is this the only hedgehog outside of Grove Park?

Meet “Mr Chertsey”, who has been visiting the Chersey Road Allotments for the past 2 years. We are not yet aware whether this hedgehog is male or female. It is a good size, so we are going along with Male!

After working with Zoological Society London’s Hogwatch in 2022, we found hedgehogs only in the Grove Park and Strand on the Green area of Chiswick.

Since then, Mr Chertsey has proven us wrong. We are very happy about this. We have no idea how he/she got there. We suspect the railway line was used as a green corridor. We hope a mate will also arrive!

Hedgehogs are on the red list vulnerable to extinction. Access to gardens and habitat incorporated in green spaces are vital for this creature, which has been on earth for millions of years, to survive.

Please keep your gardens green so they can find food. Please put a 13cm hole in all your garden fences to give them access. We can help do this email hogs@wildchiswick.com and we will contact you to make a date to drill the hole(s).
