Species Record Challenge begins!

From 1st June until 31st August WildChiswick will be running a competition to encourage people to record wildlife species they see across Chiswick.

There will be an award and £50 voucher from Hilliers Garden Centre, Syon Park for the person who records the most number of viable species within the challenge dates.

The winner will be announced and award given at the Chiswick Horticultural & Allotment Society Autumn Show at Staveley Road Trading Hut, 7th September 2025.

Why bother? The information will go into the database of Greenspace information for Greater London (GiGl). This information is used by ecologists and local councils (including Hounslow) when preparing their biodiversity and nature recovery plans. For WildChiswick, knowing what species are located where, means we may help preserve and increase habitats, thereby increasing biodiversity.

This challenge is a great opportunity for you to do your bit for nature! Let’s build a good overview of what Chiswick has to offer wildlife. Children can also enter and this may be an excellent summer holiday project!

Worth noting – You do not have to enter the challenge but can still record your sightings.
