WildChiswick launches 2026 Nature Survey Competition

Last year WildChiswick worked with Greenspace Information for Greater London (GiGL) to produce an online form where anyone could take a photo and record any fauna species they saw in Chiswick. This created nearly 100 new recordings of species for Chiswick.

This is so important to help local wildlife. If we know where we have certain species, we can help protect thier habitat – as was done with Warren Farm. We can also look at where we should connect habitats by creating green corridors.

The purpose of the competition this year, which runs from 31st May until 31st October, is to encourage everyone across Chiswick to record species via www.wildchiswick.com/naturesurvey

We have created 4 different categories:

  • Biodiversity Champion (most species recorded by 18yrs+)
  • Junior Wildlife Ranger (most species recorded by 17yrs and below)
  • Community Wildlife Heroes (Groups of 5 – 20 people)
  • Hidden Gems Award (rarely recorded species in Chiswick)

Oh – did we mention there are prizes for each category? There are!

We are hoping people will be encouraged to record species whether on their own, as a group (street, volunteers, school, club, allotments – you name it), with their children. It is an opportunity to go out, relax and stop to look at nature.

Click here to learn more about the competition and to submit recordings.

Let’s see how many recordings we can achieve, we can’t wait to see and share your entries. Good luck everyone!
